Taylor Wimpey highlights new build opportunities in UK housebuilding

Against concerns that the UK housing market is slowing down, housebuilder Taylor Wimpey has announced that its 2014 performance has improved upon last year.

Chief executive Pete Redfern explained:  “We are encouraged that conditions have moderated but remained positive. Today we are operating in a UK housing market which is growing steadily and sustainably.”

Taylor Wimpey has fully sold for targeted 2014 completions and is already building its 2015 order book.

In its interim financial statement, the 2014 order book represents 7,814 homes worth £1.7 billion, compared to 2013 figures of 7,557 and £1.5 billion, respectively.

Pete Redfern also believes that that new regulations following the Mortgage Market Review, which have restricted borrowing for second-hand homes, have not adversely impacted the business and Help to Buy is still being used by their first-time buyers to get on the ladder.
